Great weekend with friends at Helsinki Winner and Nordic Winner shows!

It was nice to see everyone again! Thanks for the lovely company!
The star of the weekend was  definately junior bitch Benton Yale Graduate,
who surprised us all by taking both FINJW-09 and FINW-09 titles,
the bitch CC and BOB! She was also shortlisted among last 8 in the group!
Great! Well done to Anne and Sylvi!
Mimmi aka Ch Benton Walk of Fame followed Sylvi and took the bitch CACIB.
Ch Benton Ugly Duckling was third best male and Benton What Women Want
won open dog class and took the dog ResCC! Well done to all!

The next day started with Benton Anaheim Mighty Duck winning
the NORDJW-09 title!
Ch Benton Ugly Duckling won champion class and was placed 2nd best male after
the Estonian visitor, who went BOB!
He is a son of the late Ch Benton One More Duck.
Sylvi aka Benton Yale Graduate won junior bitch class again and took third title of the weekend, now NORDJW-09. She was then placed 4th best bitch with ResCC. Mimmi aka Benton Walk of Fame was 3rd best bitch and my own
Benton Winter Storm surprised me totally by taking
the Bitch CC, resCACIB and Best Bitch-2 placement!
Benton breeders group was BOB both days!
We did not show in the finals on sunday, as it
was a long weekend and everyone was ready to travel home.
Big congratulations to all and thank you again to helping handlers!!

Super day at Turku Fkk Int. In males, Ch Benton Ugly Duckling took another
CACIB and went on to Best Male-2. In bitches Ch Benton Walk of Fame took
another CACIB and BOB, followed by her sister Benton Who's Talkin'
who took CC and res CACIB and thus finishing her FIN CH title. WELL DONE!
The third sister in the litter, Benton Winter Storm, got the Bitch res CC.
Needless to say I am very pleased with the bitches!
My breeders group was BOB.
The day just got better. First Mimmi aka Ch Benton Walk of Fame went on to
win the gundog group under Mr Hans Rosenberg
and finished the day as BIS-3 under Mrs Annica Ulltveit-Moe.
I wonder, this must be the highest ever placement for an WSS
at an Int Ch show? Her mom, Ch Benton Pep Talk took twice BIS4
and Ch Benton One More Duck also took twice BIS4 placement.

Erkki aka Ch Benton Ugly Duckling took BOB and CACIB
and was shortlisted in the group.
Young Teme aka Benton Anaheim Mighty Duck took res CC.
The bitches did well too, Int Ch Benton Quit Talkin' was Best Bitch-2
(beaten by her daughter), Ch Benton Walk of Fame Best Bitch-3
and Benton Winter Storm Best Bitch-4 with resCC.
My breeders group took a nice BIS-4 placement in the finals.

Teme aka Benton Anaheim Mighty Duck,
aged 10 months took his 1st CC and BOS at Valkeala group Ch Show.

Mimmi aka FINJW-08 Benton Walk of Fame, who has had quite a showcareer,
is now Finnish Champion. She took FIN CH title at the age of 2 yrs and 9 days
at the first possible show. CONGRATULATIONS to Piia and Petteri!
She has been shown 39 times so far, resulting in 23 x CC, 10 x res CC,
so she sure has been appreciated in the ring!
She took her final CC at Seinäjoki Int Ch Show
under spaniel specialist Helene Bjorkman, of Barecho fame, from Sweden.
Her littersister Benton Winter Storm took res CC and resCACIB
and was best bitch-2. Ch Benton Ugly Duckling took
again best male win and went on to BOS.
These two are currenly top male and top bitch in Finland.
My breeders group was BIS-4 in good competition, so all in all a great day again"

Nice results in other areas as well. Nappi aka Benton What Women Want
has taken 2 x 2nd prize and 1 x 3rd prize in tracking tests,
Int Ch Benton Quit Talkin' got two more 1st prizes in obecience open class and is now in winner class! Well done to all!
Am CH BISS Benton Ivy League has accomplished something that only
a handful dogs in any breed have done - he is now an all breed BEST IN SHOW
winner, twice BIS at National Specialty, A Master Agility Dog, and the latest
he has won Highest Scoring Dog in trial at an all-breed obedience trial

Ilona aka S U(u) CH NorJW-05 SW-07 FINW-08 Benton Pep Talk was
inseminated with Kazval Shadow Leader of Anibesco and the result was this
lovely dog puppy. We hope he will fullfill our dreams and turn out to be a
great addition to my future breeding. At least he was full of himself with a
lovely outgoing attitude to the life! With being a singleton puppy, I could not
have asked more! He has gone to live with Kikka Koljonen & Jukka Kivijarvi
and a bunch of flat coated retrievers at Kennel Wilcasen.
I am sure he has a very active life ahead of him!

In Memoriam

We have some sad news,
little Della, Benton All That Talk, aged 9 months, died on 6th of October.
She jumped out of a window and the damage was so bad,
there was nothing to be done, but save her from further suffering.

Ch Benton Under Oath spent almost 3 months in Sweden at Kennel Welford,
where he was shown by Carsten and Urban. They did wonderful job with him, resulting in several BOB wins... He took CACIB in four Int Ch shows
that he was shown, 3 BOB and 1 BOS, 2 Group-4 and on top of it all,
he won the gundog group at his last show, Sundsvall Int Ch show.
He is now back to Finland and will be entering finnish showrings shortly.
We look forward to seeing this lovely boy in the finnish rings again. Big thank you to Carsten and Urban!

Quite a busy weekend for several Benton dogs!

Jaffa, FIN & S(u) CH Benton Under Oath in the capable hands of Urban and Carsten in Sweden took 2 x BOB wins and even Group 4
at Norrköping Int under John Thirlwell (Ferndel), UK!

Benton Yosemite Park took her 1st CC and BOS as a junior in
Mustasaari group Ch show.

Mimmi aka FINJW-08 Benton Walk of Fame took her CC's nr 18 and 19 by
going BOS at Joensuu All Breed Ch show on saturday and CACIB BOB on sunday!
 
At Ikaalinen group Ch show, Int Ch Benton Lets Go Girls went on to BOB
while Ch Benton Ugly Duckling was BOS!

Ch Benton United Colours got her 1st result in agility trials!

Turku all breed show and littersister newlycrowned champion

At Suonenjoki group ch show, Teme aka Benton Anaheim Mighty Duck went
to his first show to take BOB puppy. FINJW-08 Benton Walk of Fame took
her 17th CC and BOB and Group-2!!!

The littermates Erkki and Papu had a good day at Pori FKK Int.
Erkki, Ch Benton Ugly Duckling took CACIB BOB and later on Group-4.
Littersister Papu, Benton United We Stand took her last CC and first CACIB!
Well done to Anu and Papu as well as Katja and Olli!
Papu is the fifth from the U-litter to finish its championship title!
The same day mother of Benton Y-litter, Benton Reason To Talk,
took her 2nd CC & BOB and is on her way to hopefully finish her FIN CH title shortly. Well done Anne and Hymppis!

The same weekend her daughter, Benton You Betcha took 2 CC's.

Although the general impression by finnish welsh springer people is that
my breeding is only for showing and the only area where they do anything is
the showring. These comments come to my ears now and then. I am though
happy to say that many Benton WSS do well in other areas as well, like recently
in obedience ring (Int Ch Benton Quit Talkin'),
in agility (Benton Reason To Talk, Ch Benton United Colours,
Am Ch Benton Ivy League etc..),
in tracking (Benton Lets Go Girls, Benton What Women Want, Benton Reason To Talk, Benton Time To Talk etc..)
and also in hunting tests (Int Ch Benton No More Secrets..)
I dont know what it would take to prove to some people here that Benton WSS are not just pretty faces?? I guess nothing will change certain general opinions, unfortunately. I know what I am doing and continue to do it the way I have done, but the sad thing is that these bitter comments usually
hurt the feelings of my puppybuyers.

Oulu weekend ended up being a very succesful for the two dogs I had with me.
There was 2 x International Ch show the same weekend. On Sat Mimmi aka
FINJW-08 Benton Walk of Fame continued her succesful summer and took again
BOB and CC and CACIB! She was also shortlisted in the group. The next day Erkki
aka FIN & S (u) CH Benton Ugly Duckling took care of the BOB win - he also was
shortlisted among the last 6 in the group. Other benton dogs did well too, Maarit had brought Risty (Int Ch Benton Quit Talkin) and Vappu (Benton Whos Talkin)
and they were both placed in best bitch class both days.

BOB and went onto Group-4 placement, like his litterbrother the day before...

Lovely Lisbeth, Benton Winter Storm, who still needs to mature and come into her own was shown also, sheis such a charming little lady, and it is so much fun showing her, as she is full of herself in the ring. She got such a lovely critique and
I wholeheartedly agree with every word of it!
She sure is a dog that can be described as "charming"!
Lisbeth was 2nd best bitch with a res CC.

The joy of a lovely day on sunday was greatly saddened by the terrible
news received today. Ossi aka FIN CH FINJW-06 Benton Somebodys Duck, who was shown on sunday, had to be put to sleep today due to a tumour.
He was only 3 years old and the apple of the eye of his devoted owner Minna.
My biggest condolences to Minna and Antti on a loss of their beloved family
member "Ossi".

What a lovely day this ended up being. Our annual
Springer Spaniel Club Specialty Show!
The breed was judged by Jan Janes, Kennel Coedybrain, UK (except junior bitch class and veterans were judged by Colin Woodward, UK).
Ch Benton Pep Talk, who has been rarely shown this year
showed her heart out and took BEST IN SHOW!
Her only sister, Ch Benton Pearl at Wesper took BIS at this very same show as a junior in 2006. What a pair!!! BOS was Ch Benton Ugly Duckling.
Benton WSS did well - Best Bitch2 was Ch Benton Quit Talkin',
Best Bitch-3 Benton Whos Talkin', who also got the Bitch CC.
FINJW-08 Benton Walk of Fame won intermediate class and we got
several nice placements in classes. Dog CC was a son of Ch Benton Quit Talkin' (Twigle Neck or Nothing) and bitch ResCC his sister Twigle Never Say Never,
so all in all a great day for Benton bred/related dogs!
A big thank you to everyone for a lovely (although a very busy) day!
And congratulations to all! Besides winning BIS; Ch Benton Pep Talk had BIS progeny and our breeders group was BIS-2.
